Applicability of Concrete–Steel Composite Piles for Offshore Wind Foundations

Offshore wind-turbine support structures are largely made of steel since monopiles have accounted for the majority installations in last decade. As turbines become bigger, led to an exponential increase material and installation costs. From this point view, use concrete future has been initiated. In study, concrete–steel composite piles investigated. A pre-tensioned high strength pile was placed lower part, mainly axial load, a upper part resist lateral load. mechanical joint adapted connect two different types piles. Static axial, dynamic load tests were performed evaluate load-displacement response pile, verify integrity joint, investigate its potential application offshore wind foundations. This paper focused on connection integrity; particular, it investigated by comparing results beam-spring analysis. Based from field tests, site-specific curve suggested, verified.
